Bins and recycling

Garden waste customers

Update: Monday 6 September

Despite our best efforts to keep your garden waste collection service running as normally as possible over recent weeks, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend collections.

There will be no garden waste collections between Monday 6 September and Friday 17 September.

Recycling and black bin waste collections will continue as normal.

Neighbouring councils suspended their services earlier in the summer, but we have been able to continue collections – with some disruption – until now. We have now reached the point where the shortage of HGV drivers means we cannot continue to provide all services.

Our recycling centres will be open as normal if you’re unable to store your garden waste at home. Home composting is also a good way to deal with any extra garden waste generated.

For more information about the reason for the suspension, and what we are doing to resolve the current situation please visit our garden waste service suspension page.

The consultation on our new Recycling and Waste Strategy is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated, we received over 1500 responses.

We are now considering the feedback and we will publish our finalised Recycling and Waste Strategy (for the next 10 years), later this year.
