Plans for a new transport hub in Pill, North Somerset, are moving forward with works set to start early January 2026.  

North Somerset Council, in partnership with Quay Research, has launched a new survey to better understand the strengths, challenges, and future needs of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.

North Somerset Council and Avon and Somerset Police have worked in partnership to tackle anti-social behaviour following concerns over a series of incidents relating to unlawfully accessed vacant properties in Weston-super-Mare town centre.  

Festive recycling and waste collections 

Over the Christmas period collection dates will be slightly different in North Somerset to allow for the bank holidays. Residents are encouraged to sign up to the North Somerset Council app to receive personalised collection reminders and check how to dispose of their items. Collection calendars can also be checked online at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/calendars. 

Councillor Catherine Gibbons, North Somerset Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member responsible for Children’s Services and Families, has issued a statement following the tragic death of a child in an incident in Weston-super-Mare on Monday 15 December.

Bus lanes near Queensway and the B3440 in Weston-super-Mare will see some changes starting today to help ease pressure on the road network whilst construction works are underway. 

A coordinated programme involving multiple operations and “Days of Action” in town centres has been launched in North Somerset.  The first multi-agency “Day of Action” operation took place earlier this week to improve safety, support vulnerable people and reduce anti-social behaviour.  

North Somerset Council has warned that council tax will almost certainly need to rise above the usual government cap next year to protect essential local services amid unprecedented funding cuts.

Improvements have been made to bus passenger facilities at Weston General Hospital. A small transport hub has been created near the entrance to the hospital, including: 

• a new large bus shelter with improved seating
• an e-ink screen offering digital timetables and real time updates
• additional seating outside of the shelter and motorcycle parking facilities 

North Somerset Council has secured a funding package of £12.9m for bus services and infrastructure over three years.  

Anyone wanting to give the bus a try before the end of the year can ride the X10 for free leading up to the Christmas period. All fares for the Big Lemon bus service are waived this festive season from 5 to 24 December. No tickets, passes, or vouchers needed, just hop on. This offer is thanks to government funding through the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP). 

An operation has been carried out following complaints that customers’ cars continue to suffer criminal damage and have unexplained additional mileage after using unofficial parking companies located near Bristol Airport.
