The first phase of work to restore Birnbeck Pier was given the green light today (Wednesday 21 August) by North Somerset Council’s Planning and Regulatory Committee.

Over 18,000 pedestrian, cycling and equestrian journeys have been made on the Pier to Pier Way in the first month of opening.

Some bus timetables are being updated from 1 September and passengers are being encouraged to familiarise themselves with the revised schedule so they can continue to enjoy cheap or free bus travel from next month. 

On Tuesday 6 August, Castle Batch Children’s Centre hosted an All Stars Cricket event for five to eight-year-olds. The event was organised by the Somerset Cricket Foundation and North Somerset Council’s children’s centres team.  

Community not-for-profit organisations have teamed up to create plans to join up services and use empty buildings.

Communities in North Somerset are set to benefit from WESTlocal, an allocated fund for community groups to create public transport services designed by them, for them.

Following the launch of consultation on the government’s proposed planning reforms, North Somerset Council is reviewing its draft Local Plan. 

Environmental Health Officers from North Somerset Council have conducted ‘quality assurance’ visits to all funeral directors in North Somerset and found consistently good practice.
