A popular project helping North Somerset residents reduce waste and boost soil health is seeking new volunteers to join its thriving team. 

Today (28 January 2026), North Somerset Council launched its brand-new Electric Library Outreach Vehicle marking a major step in redesigning how library services reach communities across the area.  

Applications are open for an Independent Chair and Deputy Chair to bring people together, create space for open and collaborative discussion, and support residents to shape the future of the Pride in Place programme in Weston-super-Mare’s South Ward. 

The bus lane by Food Warehouse in Weston-super-Mare will close to general traffic from Wednesday 28 January to enable essential Openreach utility diversion works ahead of the major Queensway junction improvement project scheduled to begin this June.

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is set to approve the start of a consultation on the combined authority expanding to include North Somerset Council.
