Young people from across North Somerset gathered in the New Council Chamber at the Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare for the inaugural meeting of the North Somerset Youth Parliament.

North Somerset Council is inviting residents, businesses and community groups to take part in the next Bus User Forum, an opportunity to hear updates and share views on the future of local bus services. The forum will run across two sessions this October, one online on Monday 27 and one in Portishead on Wednesday 29.

Replacing the shorter-term 2020 recovery strategy, the new roadmap responds to changing local and national challenges with a focus on investment, innovation, and inclusion.

Work starts today (Wednesday 1 October) at Marine Lake in Weston-super-Mare as part of North Somerset Council’s plans to further enhance the tidal lake. However, the lake itself will remain open until Monday 6 October.

Footbridge installed on Winterstoke Road

This weekend saw exciting scenes outside of Weston-super-Mare, as a large crane put in place the temporary footbridge that will maintain pedestrian access throughout the replacement of Winterstoke Road Bridge.

Following the resignation this week of Cllr Stuart McQuillan, councillor for the Long Ashton ward on North Somerset Council, a by-election will be held for the election of a new ward councillor. The date for this is not yet confirmed but it's likely to take place on Thursday 13 November 2025.

Contracts have been exchanged enabling work to begin on a new health centre and GP surgery in Weston-super-Mare. The facilities will be built at Sunnyside Road North and will replace the Graham Road surgery, providing healthcare in a modern setting that can serve up to 12,500 patients.
