Privacy screens

To comply with a condition that requires you to erect a privacy screen, you will need to submit the following details:

  • confirmation of the height of the screen, as measured from the surface on which it is mounted. It will need to be at least 1.8 meters in height for the entire length of the screen
  • confirmation of the exact length and position of the screen, by showing it on a scaled plan. If the screen is required for a balcony then it will normally need to extend out as far as the edge of the balcony
  • confirmation of the construction of the screen. The screen needs to permanently prevent overlooking. Obscured glass is acceptable so long as it is obscured to the same level of Pilkington Level 3. There should be no gaps in the screen, so a hit-and-miss design will not be acceptable.
