We’ve only got a short timeframe to deliver our ambitious programme of 18 different bus priority schemes across our region. We always try to reduce any disruption connected with works. This could be through using temporary traffic lights or putting a diversion route in place.
However, sometimes disruption cannot be avoided. There may be times when your usual journey could be affected if travelling through BSIP scheme locations during the construction period.
How to find out if construction work is happening in your area
- check our press release on the 10 BSIP scheme locations to see if your area is listed
- visit one.network to see live traffic management and roadworks information added by local authorities, National Highways and utility companies
- use Google Maps for live traffic information including estimated journey times adapted for different times of day
- follow us on social media for updates Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Nextdoor
- sign up to our monthly eLife newsletter to residents
- listen to local radio or check your local media news site for relevant traffic and travel updates
What to do if you think improvement works might affect your journey
We will do our best to reduce disruption where we can but if you think a particular set of works could affect your journey, it’s good to think of the 4Rs:
Reduce: Do you need to make that journey? If you are a hybrid worker, could you arrange to work from home more during the works period?
Re-time: Give yourself extra time to make your usual journey. Set off earlier than you usually would or travel outside of peak times if you can.
Re-mode: Can you opt for a different mode of transport to ease your journey? Is there a bus service you could use or a train you could catch to help minimise the amount of traffic on our roads? Could you consider car sharing or going by bike?
Re-route: Can you take a different route to your destination? Make sure to keep your eye on official diversion route signs, which might not get picked up by all satellite navigation systems.
