Prince Consort Gardens (Green Flag site)

This formal garden can be found overlooking Birnbeck Pier in Weston-super-Mare. The park has stunning views across the channel to Wales.

The Friends of Prince Consort Gardens (FoPCG) work in partnership with North Somerset Council to continuously improve this beautiful park. Their recent projects have involved improving the old boating pond to make it a thriving wildlife pond.

The FoPCG also work with Westcliffe house which is a local centre for recovering addicts. They work in the gardens with Bridgwater College to provide horticultural training for their residents.

The FoPCG meet on Saturday morning.

Introduced in 2023, the SEE Monster Garden is the legacy to the SEE Monster project which was part of the UK wide UNBOXED art displays. Plants and trees that were used in the project have been replanted in this garden at the end of Weston-super-Mare seafront.

A pétanque court has also been added.

A new volunteer group has been set up with the our parks ranger to carry out various gardening tasks. These include litter picking, light pruning of the vegetation and weeding.

Uphill Hill

Uphill Hill is a Local Nature Reserve, SSSI and part of the Mendip Hills SAC, and is an important grassland site in North Somerset.

We have a dedicated local volunteer warden who helps keep an eye on the grazing cattle and carries out small tasks around the site to ensure the path is accessible.

There are some larger vegetation tasks to be carried out during the winter as well as the opportunity to be a sheep checker. Sheep checkers keep an eye on our visiting sheep during the winter that graze the species rich bank.
