Pill parks and open spaces volunteering

Pill Flower Bank and St Georges Flower Bank

A very unique site in North Somerset. The banks situated on the side of the A369 support a rich variety of plants and wild flowers. It is designated as a Local Nature Reserve.

Tasks include litter picking, grass cutting (meadow management), tree works and hedge works. Some of this work is carried out by specialist contractors.

Due to the nature of working alongside a busy road, works are limited to the time of day and year. Lead volunteers are specially trained in traffic management.

Watchhouse Hill (Green Flag site)

Watchhouse Hill is one of our largest, most diversely managed sites in North Somerset. The Friends of Watchhouse Hill (FoWHH) have been working in partnership with us to maintain the space for the community.

Tasks include orchard management, ragwort pulling, bramble management and various surveys. The FoWHH also organise a range of exciting community events on the hill throughout the year.

The site is one of our Green Flag sites.
