Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP)

You have told us that you need more reliable, frequent, affordable and sustainable bus services. This is what the BSIP is here to achieve. We are working to make buses more reliable, efficient and better for the environment. We want to create a commercially sustainable bus service which connects communities and can adapt to our growing population.

BSIP funding is available only for a short time but it will have a long-term legacy. This will include more frequent bus services, electric buses, affordable fares and upgraded bus stops. New transport hubs will offer a range of facilities like secure cycle parking, local information displays and electric charging points. New dedicated bus lanes will allow buses to move quicker across key locations in North Somerset. This will all help to make buses the first choice over car and be commercially sustainable once BSIP funding has been spent.

BSIP is a joint initiative between North Somerset Council, the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), the Department for Transport (DfT) and bus operators.
