The A38 corridor

The A38 is a key strategic route within North Somerset as well as between Bristol, Taunton and the South West. It is currently served by four key bus routes including the popular A1 service to Bristol and Bristol International Airport. Our ambition is to reduce all bus journey times along this key corridor so frequent bus services can become commercially viable.

This page outlines the development and status of each scheme.

You can also visit our Engagement and consultation process page to view any proposals that are currently open for feedback.

Lime Kiln roundabout, near Bristol

Status of scheme: approved

Design changes have been directly shaped by community engagement and discussion on early proposals, which were put out to public consultation for six weeks in February and March 2024. Following feedback from the public and additional modelling work, an original proposal for a new bus lane on Colliters Way south has been removed from the design. Preparations can now get underway for works to begin on site with a provisional start date of spring 2025.
