The A369 corridor

The planned package of bus priority measures along the North Somerset section of the A369 bus corridor is expected to reduce the longest round-trip bus journey times. The A369 is serviced by the popular X4 bus service connecting Portishead and Bristol. Improvements to its journey times and punctuality will contribute to improved passenger satisfaction and increased bus patronage, securing the route’s commercial sustainability.

We have been working with communities to discuss, develop and implement bus priority schemes along the A370. This page outlines the development and status of each scheme.

Beggar Bush Lane

Status of scheme: complete

Rownham Hill on outskirts of Bristol near Ashton Court

Status of scheme: revision of original proposals underway

Following our engagement and consultation work, and further technical monitoring, we have taken the decision to revise the scope of the original proposals and will not be moving forward with the proposed bus lanes. We will now consider other feasible improvements for supporting more efficient and effective bus travel along the A369 at the Bridge Road / Ashton Court junction. This includes looking into upgrading the traffic signals and bus shelters, and improving pedestrian and cycling facilities at the junction, including at the Ashton Court entrance. Details to be shared at a later date.

Portbury Hundred

Status of scheme: paused

We have removed initial proposals for Portbury Hundred from the programme following our pause and review of the BSIP programme.

Martcombe Road

Status of scheme: under review

We have reduced the scope of the initial proposals for Martcombe Road and are continuing to review options. We are expecting to start public engagement on amended concept designs later in the autumn.
