Fireworks

Fireworks are fun but have the potential to cause harm.

If you are thinking of buying fireworks for your own use, you should make sure you understand the regulations. Remember, you must be 18 years of age or older to purchase fireworks.

It is illegal to set off fireworks between 11PM and 7AM, except on certain occasions:

  • Bonfire Night (the cutoff is midnight)
  • New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year (the cut off is 1AM)

Fireworks and pets

When setting off fireworks, please also consider your neighbours and pets. The noise can often be distressing for both people and animals.

The RSPCA website offers suggestions on how to keep animals calm during fireworks displays.
