Your rights are important. The United Nations Convention on the rights of the child says:
- article 9: you have the right to keep in regular contact with your parents as long as this is the best thing for you and is safe
- article 12: you have the right to be respected and have your views listened to when decisions are being made that affect you
- article 16: you have the right to privacy
- article 20: you have the right to be looked after properly by people who respect your language, culture and religion, if you cannot be looked after by your family
- article 25: you have the right to have your situation reviewed regularly if you live away from home and are looked after by the local authority
