Asset decisions

When we have decided whether or not to list an asset, we tell certain groups and organisations the reasons for our decision, including

  • the town or parish council
  • the ward councillor(s)
  • the owner of the asset
  • the holder of the freehold estate and the holder of any leasehold estate
  • any lawful occupant
  • statutory undertakers such as utility companies

Assets are listed for five years and registered on the local land charges register. We also inform HM Land Registry who register a restriction against the asset.

The owner of a listed asset must tell us if they intend to sell it.
