Becoming a governor

Volunteering to be a governor and helping schools raise their standards can be very rewarding.

No special qualifications are needed. We provide a full induction, training and support. You must be over 18, be committed, and willing to work as part of a team.

Schools need a good mix of people from the local community who bring different views, experience, skills and fresh ideas.

You don’t have to have children at school to become a governor, but you will need to pass a formal check to ensure your suitability to work in a school.
