Elective home education

Parents and guardians have a legal duty to secure full-time education for their children which is usually met by their child going to school.

Some parents and guardians will decide that their child will not be educated at school. This is known as elective home education and will involve making alternative arrangements.

This could include educating the child themselves, or involving other people who have experience of home education such as a private tutor.
