Landscape and visual impact assessment

A Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) helps to identify the impact of a planned development on views and the surrounding landscape.

A LVIA is required for all developments that meet the following criteria:

  • major developments that provide new buildings and structures located outside of settlement boundaries
  • new building or structures within settlement boundaries that would be significantly higher than the height of existing buildings in the area.
