Environmental impact assessment

If you have a Schedule 1 or 2 development that is considered to have a significant impact on the environment by nature of its size, location or use, you will need to submit an Environmental Impact Assessment with your planning application.

For further details on whether or not you qualify to send an assessment, and what to include, please see Article 4 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2011.

Help and advice

To help decide if an assessment is needed you can ask for:

  • a screening opinion, before making an application
  • a scoping opinion, after making an application

When an assessment is not required, environmental information may still be needed in your application.
