Hedges

Hedgerow legislation

If a landowner wishes to remove a hedgerow growing on a field boundary, they need to give us six weeks’ notice.

High hedge complaints

We deal with complaints about high evergreen hedges, under the High Hedge Regulations.

If you want to check whether your neighbour’s hedge is considered to have an adverse impact on your property, you can carry out the calculations set out in the hedge height and light loss booklet.

There is a cost of £425 (£210 concessionary rate for claimants of an income-related benefit) for us to investigate a high hedge complaint.
