Changing address

If you are liable to pay Council Tax in North Somerset and you are moving house, you can tell us about a change of address.

This applies if you are:

• moving into North Somerset
• moving out of North Somerset
• changing address within North Somerset.

If you are moving into North Somerset and are new to the area, you will need to register with us for Council Tax. 

You can report your move online. You'll need to provide:

• your name
• the date you are moving in
• the address you are moving to
• the date the property was purchased or tenancy started
• the name and address of the landlord if you are renting the property

You can also let us know:

• if you want to pay by direct debit
• if you want to claim and discounts or an exemption
• if you want to receive an ebill

These options are available in our online Council Tax portal under the 'Moving House' option.

If you moving to a new address within North Somerset, and want to notify us of your new change of address, you can update your details in MyAccount. 

To do this: 

1. Login to MyAccount via the button on this page
2. Select 'My profile' on the top left of the page
3. Next to 'address' select 'Change'
4. Search for your new postcode and address and save your changes. 

If you are moving out of of North Somerset, you will need to notify us. 

This is so we can make changes to your Council Tax billing. This can include issuing a final bill and removing you from our records for payments. 

To do this, you will need:

• address and postcode of the property you’re leaving
• date moved out, tenancy end date / sale date
• details of the new owner or landlord
• forwarding contact address

Please use the button below to access our Council Tax portal. You can select the 'Moving house' option from the menu and then 'Moving out of North Somerset'.
