SAY: SEND and You

SAY is North Somerset’s information and advice service for SEND. They provide free information, advice, and support services for parents and children and young people who have SEND up to age 25.

North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together (NSPCWT)

North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together represent the collective voice of parent carers in the local area. They work with key decision makers across the local authority, health, and education. Their aim is to make everyday life better for parent carers and help every child and young person with an additional need or disability reach their full potential.

Autism Central

Autism Central offers support and guidance for families, parents, and carers of autistic children and adults through a range of information and services. Autism Central operates through regional hubs across England including Bristol and the South West. 

Bridging the Gap Together

Bridging the Gap Together provide a range of workshops for parents and carers of children and young people with complex needs or disabilities.

Carer's Collective

Carer’s Collective offer support for families of children and young people with learning disabilities. They promote resilience and wellbeing for parent carers through a range of resources and training programmes.

IPSEA

IPSEA are a national independent charity offering advice for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Portage and Inclusion

Portage and Inclusion is North Somerset’s home-visiting educational service for pre-school children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Special Needs Jungle provides parent-led information, resources and informed opinion about children and young people with SEND.

Wellbeing support

When caring for another person is one of your first responsibilities, it can be difficult to make sure you are also caring for your own wellbeing.

North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together and SAY: SEND and You both offer wellbeing support specifically for parent carers of young people with SEND

Second Step is not SEND-specific, but they do offer a range of mental health and wellbeing support with regular sessions both in-person and online.

The NHS also offers mental health support for children, young people and adults.
