Socialising and making friends - 11-16 year olds

Friendship groups become more important as we get older. The sense of fitting in, sharing the same likes and dislikes, can give us a sense of belonging and identity.

Meeting other teenagers outside of school can be a great way to make new friends. Try new hobbies or interests that get you out and about, helping you meet new people. This could involve volunteering locally or joining a club at school or outside of school.

Sport and fitness

There are many things to do in North Somerset, from after-school activities to sports clubs.

Physical activity is good for you and it gives you an opportunity to find new friends. Our Active Directory provides information on local sports groups.

Find out where you can swim on the leisure centres page of our website.

Youth clubs

Your local area may have a youth club that you can join. These are often run from churches or local community centres and may be advertised on town or parish council websites.
