Care Act 2014

The Care Act 2014 changed how care and support for adults is provided. The intent is to make support clearer, easier to access, and more consistent across the country.

We will always look at your individual needs, but as a guide, we will ask you about the following areas

  • managing and maintaining nutrition
  • maintaining personal hygiene
  • managing toilet needs
  • being appropriately clothed
  • being able to make use of the adult's home safely
  • maintaining a habitable home environment
  • developing and maintaining family or other personal relationships
  • accessing and engaging in work, training, education or volunteering
  • making use of necessary facilities or services in the local community, including public transport, and recreational facilities or services
  • carrying out any caring responsibilities the adult has for a child

North Somerset Council and Adult Social Services take duties under the Care Act responsibly. Everything we do is embedded in the statutory guidance.
