Our local supply policy aims to encourage and support early supplier engagement in order to improve local suppliers’ ability to compete for contracts, with an overall intent to increase our level of spend with local suppliers and to support North Somerset’s economy as a whole.
The policy covers how we:
- award contracts to local suppliers
- manage our strategic contractors so that they optimise their use of local suppliers within their own supply chain
- will ensure transparency regarding our contracts, making local suppliers more aware of available opportunities.
The policy incorporates advice and guidance from the Federation of Small Businesses and the National Procurement Strategy for Local Government in England on how we should engage with local suppliers when commissioning goods and services.
