Please find below a reference guide on the application types, as well as the target timelines for consultation and decisions.

  • ADV – advertisement consent
    21 days consultation and eight week target to decide.
  • AGA – prior approval – agriculture
    No consultation required and 21 day target to decide.
  • CUPA – change of use – prior approval
    No consultation required and three week target to decide.
  • DCO – Development Consent Order (minor development)
    No public  consultation required and 5 weeks to determine.
  • DCM – Development Consent Order (major development)
    No public consultation required and 8 weeks to determine.
  • DEA – prior approval – demolition
    No consultation required and 21 day target to decide.
  • EA1 – request for formal screening opinion
    Decides if an environmental statement is needed. No consultation required and 21 day target to decide.
  • EA2 – request for formal scoping opinion
    Decides what an environmental statement needs to cover. 21 days consultation and 25 day target to decide.
  • EIA1 – Request for a formal screening opinion about the need for an Environmental Impact Assessment– this is not a planning application, no consultation is required and a planning application will need to be received, consulted on and approved before any works can start.
  • EIA2 – Request for a formal scoping opinion about what impacts an Environmental Statement should cover – this is not a planning application, no consultation is required and a planning application will need to be received, consulted on and approved before any works can start.
  • EIA3 – Request for formal screening and scoping opinion – this is not a planning application, no consultation is required and a planning application will need to be received, consulted on and approved before any works can start.
  • FUL – full planning permission
    21 days consultation and eight week target to decide (13 weeks for major applications, 16 weeks if accompanied by an environmental statement).
  • FUH – full planning permission for householder development
    21 days consultation and eight week target to decide.
  • HED – hedgerow determination
    No consultation required and 42 day target to decide.
  • HHPA – householder prior approval
    No consultation required and six week target to decide.
  • HZ1 – hazardous substance consent (general)
    21 days consultation and eight week target to decide.
  • HZ2 – hazardous substance consent (vary/remove condition)
    21 days consultation and eight week target to decide.
  • HZ3 – hazardous substance consent (change of control)
    21 days consultation and eight week target to decide.
  • LBC – listed building

  • LDE – S191 lawful use/development – existing

  • MMA – minor material amendment

  • NMA – non-material amendment

  • OUT – outline planning permission

  • R3 – regulation 3 application – a proposed development by us

  • R4 – regulation 4 application – we own the site but are not the applicant

  • TRCA – works to trees within a conservation area
    No consultation required and six week target to decide.

Application types not needing formal consultation will still be included in the weekly list of new applications, and will be sent to local parish and town councils for information.
