Heritage Forum

The Heritage Forum is an event held twice a year for established groups and societies with an interest in the history and archaeology of North Somerset.

The Forum was set up in November 2017 by North Somerset Council heritage officers to better engage with these groups and create an opportunity to work together.

The meetings allow officers from across North Somerset Council the opportunity to provide updates on key projects, as well as giving information and training to help the groups carry out their research and fieldwork. The meetings are chaired by North Somerset Council’s Heritage and Regeneration Champion.

The Forum also provides an opportunity for each of the groups to update other members on their research through a series of talks and events. It also provides a space for groups to discuss potential collaborative projects with other members and council officers.

Over 45 groups and societies are members of the Forum. These range from those who regularly carry out archaeological fieldwork, to local history societies and conservation area groups.

If you are a member of a local heritage interest group and would like to join the North Somerset Heritage Forum, please email DM.Archaeology@n-somerset.gov.uk.
