Borrow a bike

If you’re not sure whether cycling is for you, you can borrow one of our bikes for free to see how you get on.

If you live or work in North Somerset, you can borrow a bike for free for two weeks. There are no hidden costs and no catches, just a refundable deposit to pay.

All our bikes come with useful accessories (lights, lock, pannier) and we can supply a helmet if required. You can choose from:

• a normal commuter/hybrid bike – a robust bike with airless tyres
• an electric bike – helps with the hills!
• a folding bike – easy to store and for use on public transport.

Identification and a £50 refundable deposit (payable on cash or card) is required. The deposit for electric bikes is £250.

1. Head to the Travelwest website and fill in the enquiry form

2. You will be emailed a voucher within five working days

3. Complete and print the voucher - make sure you have read the terms and conditions

4. Pick up your bike from The Bicycle Chain
