Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are growing in popularity. At North Somerset Council we have been successfully supporting apprentices for many years.

Come and work with us. We are a diverse and disability confident workforce.

Who can sign up

Our apprenticeships are open to all ages from 16+. They are often taken up by

  • school leavers looking for their first step onto the career ladder
  • anyone looking to retrain or get back into work following a career break.

What it involves

Apprenticeships combine a great job with a recognised training programme. Depending on what qualification you are studying for, training can take place in the workplace or at college on a day or block release.

Training is available in a wide range of subject matters, and can range from intermediate to postgraduate. There is something for everyone.

Most apprenticeships are offered on a fixed term contract.

Benefits and support

All apprentices get the full range of benefits offered to North Somerset Council employees.

We will also provide mentorship and coaching during your time with us. At the end of your contract, we will also support you into work and further training via our succession planning scheme.

Find an apprenticeship

You can search for an apprenticeship with us via our jobs portal or in your local area using the GOV.UK apprenticeship portal.

More information

More information about apprenticeships can be found at Amazing Apprenticeship and Not Going to Uni. Or you can contact us via email or phone.
