The strengthening family connections team is a group of friendly, caring professionals who work across North Somerset to support families when things feel tough.
We're here to help children, young people and their families feel safer, closer and more connected - especially when there's a risk a child might not be able to stay at home.
Who we are
We're part of an edge-of-care service, which means we step in early to help families who are going through difficult times. Our goal is to help families stay together safely, by building stronger relationships, rebuilding trust and finding new ways to understand and support each other.
What we do
We support families at home in the following ways:
- we visit regularly to listen, talk and help everyone feel heard and understood
- we help with communication, using creative tools, games and conversations to help families talk more openly and calmly
- we rebuild trust and connection, whether it's between parents and children, siblings or carers, we help strengthen the bonds that matter most
- we understand big feelings, we know that past experiences can affect how people behave and feel. We respond with care, not judgement
- we work with others, teaming up with schools, social workers and other professionals to make sure families get the right support at the right time
- we keep checking in, we don’t just pop in and out - we stay involved to make sure things are improving and that families feel more confident and connected
What we believe
- every family has strengths - we help you find and build on them
- relationships matter - we focus on helping families feel safe, respected, and supported
- listening is powerful - we take time to hear everyone's voice, especially children's
- change is possible - with the right support, families can grow stronger together
If your family is facing challenges and needs support, we're here to help. You're not alone and it's never too early to reach out.
