Intensive family support service

Helping families with more complex needs

If your family is facing more serious or ongoing challenges, our Intensive Family Support Service offers tailored help to support you through difficult times.

We work with families who may already have had Early Help but need more coordinated support to make lasting changes.

What we do

We work directly with children, young people, and their families in places that feel safe—like your home, school, community spaces, or Family Hubs. Our team listens carefully to understand your situation and helps you build on your strengths.

Together, we will:

  • create a plan based on your family's goals
  • build resilience and problem-solving skills
  • connect you with local services and support networks
  • review progress regularly and adjust support as needed

Our aim is to help your family feel confident and supported so that you can continue without us when you're ready.

Who is it for?

This service is for families with more complex needs who may be at risk of not achieving expected outcomes. It's part of our children's services and sits at the intensive level of Early Help.

How to access support

You can be referred through the Front Door to Children's Services in one of two ways:

We always work with your informed consent and we'll involve you in every step of the process.

Our approach

We follow a strength-based, trauma-informed approach. We focus on:

  • access: flexible ways to meet and communicate
  • relationships: building trust and working together
  • connections: linking you to groups and services that help your family thrive
