Your rights as a carer

Carer's assessment

Your rights under the Care Act 2014

Please see our Carer’s Assessment webpage for information on carers' rights to an assessment.

We treat you as a carer equally as importantly as the person you care for. You have entitlements to support in your own right and can be eligible, even if the person you care for has refused support or is not eligible.

Help with advocacy

If you have what is defined as a substantial difficulty to participating in the carer’s assessment process, we may be able to help you with advocacy.

Advocacy means that someone will help you deal with the process. This is if no one else can provide independent support.

Complaints

You have a right to make a complaint about the services or interactions you have with us. Please see our Complaints page for more information.
