An election will take place on Thursday 5 February 2026 to elect one district councillor for the Clevedon South district ward.

Only electors registered in the Clevedon South district ward area will be eligible to vote in this election.
How you can vote at the elections
You can vote:
- in the polling station - please note Voter ID will be required to be shown by all voters at a polling station
- by post
- by appointing someone you trust to vote on your behalf (known as a proxy vote
Deadlines
The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Tuesday 20 January 2026.
If you want to vote in the polling station but do not have an accepted form of photographic ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 28 January 2026.
If you want to set up a postal or a proxy vote, do it as early as possible and by the deadline.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 21 January 2026. This is also the deadline to change or cancel an existing postal vote.
The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 28 January 2026.
Poll cards
Poll cards will be sent out mid-January. Your poll card tells you your current voting arrangements and, if you’re voting in the polling station, it will include details of where you need to go.
You do not need to take your poll card to the polling station with you in order to vote.
Information for candidates and agents wishing to stand at the election
Notice of election will be published on Wednesday 31 December 2025 and will be displayed on the legal notices page.
Nomination forms
You can submit your nomination forms from Friday 2 January to Friday 9 January 2026 between 10am and 4pm without an appointment. The original version of the nomination form must be delivered by hand to the Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare. You should refer to the Electoral Commission guidance on what documentation can be sent via fax or email.
