This initiative aims to help close the digital divide by providing refurbished laptops to local residents who don’t have access to essential technology.
In partnership with Opportunity North Somerset, North Somerset Libraries will distribute the laptops to eligible residents. Opportunity North Somerset is run by North Somerset Council and offers support with personal and professional development, including guidance on returning to work.
You can apply online through Opportunity North Somerset. Staff in any North Somerset Library can also help with the application process.
The laptops are carefully refurbished to ensure they are in excellent working condition, providing residents with reliable technology.
This donation will help local people stay connected, access important services online, and improve their digital skills. Additionally, by recycling devices, the National Device Bank is helping reduce electronic waste and contribute to a more sustainable environment.
Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council’s executive member responsible for libraries, said: “This collaboration between North Somerset Library Services, Opportunity North Somerset, and the Good Things Foundation is a fantastic example of how we can work together to close the digital divide and create opportunities for all."
Councillor Mark Canniford, North Somerset Council’s executive member for Placemaking and Economy, said: “Access to technology is essential, and this initiative will make a real difference. Please reach out to Opportunity North Somerset to explore the many free support options available.”
