The Tropicana will host Icescape from Friday 1 November 2024 until Sunday 5 January 2025.
Up to 400 skaters can take to the ice in each 45-minute skate session, and there’s a variety of skate sessions for everyone to enjoy. These include the popular Parent Toddler, Quiet, Disco and Skate & Donate sessions. Other activities will also be running, including festive food and drink stalls.
Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: “Icescape is a welcome fixture in North Somerset’s festive calendar, and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to accommodate it coming back to the Tropicana this year. Last winter, around 80,000 visitors enjoyed the attraction, and I’m sure it will continue to draw the crowds again this year.
“We’ve got exciting plans for the Tropicana as part of our programme to improve Weston, made possible thanks to our successful bid for £20m funding from the UK government. We’re looking to enhance existing facilities, boost capacity and restore the venue’s status as a nationally renowned, multi-use entertainment space. The planning application is due to be submitted this month, and we’re looking to start work soon after it’s been approved. Our project team has worked hard to be able to accommodate Icescape this winter, with surveys and preparation work continuing without causing any delay to the overall project.”
Jamie Dann, Icescape Operations Director, said: “We have so many different skate session offerings available this year, and there is something for every skater. Icescape Tropicana is now a Christmas tradition for so many friends and families in the South West, so it’s great to be back again this winter.
“We’re excited by the council’s plans for the future of the Tropicana, and we’re really pleased that they’ve been able to work out a solution so that we could operate again this winter.”
