About the music service

We work directly with children, schools and families.  We are also the lead partner in the Music Education Partnership: North Somerset (MEP:NS) which is the Arts Council England supported music education hub for North Somerset council.

We aim to

  • ensure every child has the opportunity to learn a musical instrument through whole-class ensemble teaching programmes
  • provide opportunities for children and young people to play in ensembles and to perform through the North Somerset Centre for Young Musicians
  • deliver small group and individual instrumental and vocal lessons in schools
  • run singing activities and events for children and young people, including large scale festivals and performances
  • provide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to school staff, particularly in supporting schools to deliver music in the curriculum
  • provide an instrument loan service, with discounts for those on low incomes
  • deliver culturally unique music ICT workshops in schools
