Reading Friends launched in North Somerset

North Somerset Libraries have joined Reading Friends, a reading befriending programme which starts conversations and connects people using reading and shared interests.

It is part of national charity The Reading Agency’s new Read, Talk, Share campaign, which expands the Reading Agency’s already successful Reading Well and Reading Friends programmes to more public libraries across England.

Our Reading Friends chat and share stories over the phone to help reduce isolation and loneliness. Connect with a good book, poem or newspaper article. Everyone is welcome!

How to get involved

If you’d like to take part and receive regular calls, please contact us by email or phone (details below). We will get in touch to match you with a trained Reading Befriender for a regular one-to-one phone chat.

North Somerset Library Volunteering Team is also excited to roll-out Reading Friends as a brand-new volunteer role. View our Reading Friends role description for more details and call or email us (details below) for more information on the next steps.  All registrations and training will be dealt with in a Covid-safe way.
