UK Government has announced a new three-year funding stream to support people in financial crisis. This will replace the Household Support Fund (HSF), which ends on 31 March 2026. Recipients of HSF support will not automatically receive the same, or similar, under the new fund.
The new Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) is intended to help support low-income households facing financial hardship. It will help fund activities to build individual and community financial resilience.
There are four components to the fund:
- crisis payments - via an application process, with wraparound support
- housing payments - which will replace the Discretionary Housing Payments
- resilience services - to help individuals and communities to build financial resilience beyond the funding period
- community coordination - to build stronger communities that support each other and bring voluntary sector community enterprises together to support individuals.
The fund will run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.
We're currently in the planning stage and research stage. This will determine how we can best support North Somerset’s residents in most need.
The Housing Payment application process will be in place from 1 April 2026. Some of the other schemes will take a little longer to initiate.
Our full CRF delivery plan will be in place by 1 July 2026.
