Council Tax reduction
Important notice about Council Tax support
Our Council Tax support scheme will be changing to a Council Tax reduction scheme from Tuesday 1 April. This follows a public consultation and agreement from councillors.
This is a simpler scheme that will make it easier for you to understand what you are entitled to.
While the budget we allocate for the scheme will not change, the changes will impact people differently depending on their circumstances. Some people will get the same level of support, while others may have more or less support.
People of pensionable age are protected from the changes by the Government, and will not see a change in their entitlement. The changes will only affect people who are of working age - typically between 16 and 66 years of age.
