What is the Clevedon seafront and Hill Road review?

We have commissioned an independent review into a scheme to improve pedestrian and cycle access in Clevedon. Independent experts AECOM will review changes made to Hill Road and The Beach through a series of engagement initiatives including an online survey.

When do you process my personal data?

Data will be collected via the online survey hosted on our consultation hub. 

Data will be collected by North Somerset Council and shared with AECOM for analysis. 

Why do you process my personal data?

Are you allowed to process my personal data?

Within the UK General Data Protection Regulation, we are permitted to process the personal information we gather because:

  • you have given us your explicit consent to allow us to process your personal data for the purpose described above.

What personal information do you process?

There are optional questions in the survey as follows:

  • email address
  • postcode
  • age
  • gender
  • disability
  • caring responsibilities
  • ethnicity 

You are not obliged to provide this information when completing the survey.

Do you share my personal information with other organisations?

We will collect information using an online survey hosted on our consultation hubThis hub is managed by iNovem Ltd which acts as one of our data processors. 

We will share the information we collect with AECOM for analysis.

We will otherwise only share your personal information with other agencies if we are required to do so by law for example where we are obliged to share information for the purposes of preventing and detecting fraud.

Do you process any of my personal information outside of the UK or EU?

None of the information covered by this privacy notice will be processed outside of the UK or countries in the EU, which are subject to the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation.

How long do you keep my personal information?

Your personal details will be retained for the period of the review and deleted thereafter. 

Am I subject to any automated decision-making processes as a result of you processing my personal information?

We do not utilise artificial intelligence or make any automated decisions using the personal information covered in this privacy notice. All decisions arising from the information you provide will be subject to human involvement. 

What information rights do I have under the law?

The UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act give you rights over your personal information that we process. The extent of the rights granted to you is determined by the reasons that the processing is deemed to be allowed; we have explained these reasons in the section Are we allowed to process your personal information? The rights that are granted to you relating to the information covered by this privacy notice are:

  • you have the right to receive ‘concise and transparent information’ about how we handle your personal data. We achieve this through the use of this privacy notice as well as other privacy information published on our website
  • you have the right of access to the personal information we hold about you, the reasons it is being processed, whether it is shared with other organisations, how long we hold it for, and whether there has been a security breach involving your personal data. To exercise this right you can make a subject access request and the process for doing this can be found on our website. You do not have to make a subject access request in writing or via the website; you can make such a request verbally if you wish
  • you have the right to request that we correct any data we hold about you that is inaccurate
  • you have the right at any time to remove your consent to allow us to process your personal information. You can do this in writing or by speaking to us. Whilst you can make this request of any officer in the council, we recommend that you contact our data protection officer using the details provided in the next section
  • you have the right to ask us to erase the information that we hold about you
  • you have the right to request us to restrict the extent of our data processing, for example if you believe that the information we hold about you is incorrect. You might also not want us to delete information as it approaches the end of its retention period. In these circumstances we are allowed to continue to store the information, but not use it for any other purpose
  • you have a right to make a complaint if you are unhappy about the way we process your personal information. The procedure for making a complaint is described in the following section
  • you have the right to request that we provide you a copy, in a structured, machine-readable format, of the information that you have given to us either directly or indirectly. You may also request that we provide this information to a third party that you nominate

How can I make a complaint about the way you have processed my personal information?

If you wish to make a complaint about how we handle your personal data, we ask that you give our Data Protection Officer the opportunity to respond in the first instance, but you are not obliged to do this. You can make your complaint directly to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
