The North Somerset Citizens’ Panel brings together hundreds of people from across the area, who volunteer their time to give feedback on the local services and issues that matter to everyone – such as health, transport, housing and the environment.
After refreshing the panel last autumn, the council is now looking for more people to sign up and get involved.
Joining the panel is flexible and easy, and people can take part in quick online surveys or give more detailed feedback depending on their time and interests.
Recently panel members helped with the appointment of the council’s new Chief Executive. They joined a virtual meeting with final candidates, asked questions, and shared feedback that helped shape the final choice.
One panel member said: “It was great for North Somerset residents to have a seat at the table for this important appointment.”
Another added: “We were briefed well and felt our input was genuinely valued. It felt like a real opportunity to make a difference.”
Cllr Mike Bell, Leader of North Somerset Council, said:
“Our Citizens’ Panel is all about giving local people a real voice. When we listen to people’s experiences, we make better decisions. We want our panel to reflect all of North Somerset’s communities – so whether you’ve got lots of time or just a little, your voice matters.
“Having our Citizens’ Panel involved in the appointment of our new Chief Executive was a really positive step in making sure local voices are part of how we shape the future of North Somerset. Everyone who took part bought a wide range of life and work experience to the discussion and their feedback was invaluable.”
The North Somerset Citizens’ Panel is open to anyone aged 18 years and over who lives, works or studies in North Somerset. To find out more and sign up go to www.n-somerset.gov.uk/citizenspanel.
