Part of North Somerset Council’s free job support service, Opportunity North Somerset, the drop-in sessions will take place every Tuesday from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Advisors will be on hand to offer free, friendly advice for anyone over 16 who is currently out of work and looking to enhance their job prospects.
No appointment is necessary; individuals can drop in for a chat with specialist advisors who are available to provide personalised support.
Support includes help with CV writing, job applications, general employability guidance, and training recommendations. The Employability Day will also connect attendees with local businesses looking to fill vacant positions.
Partners attending the first Employability Day include: Talking Therapies, North Somerset Environmental Company, Community Learning , DWP, Workwell, Empower, Waythrough , Weston College, Read Easy North Somerset, VANS.
Opportunity North Somerset is funded by the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and is available to anyone aged 16 and over living in North Somerset who is not in paid work. It can help tackle any individual barriers to employment and skills which residents may face and provide free and independent support and advice.
Cllr Mark Canniford, Cabinet Member for the Economy at North Somerset Council, said: "This initiative will strengthen North Somerset’s local economy by helping residents overcome barriers to employment. Supporting people into meaningful work not only benefits individuals and families but also boosts the wider economy and ensures our communities thrive."

These sessions will make a real difference to people’s lives, providing the confidence and guidance needed to take those next steps into work."
