About the Housing Infrastructure Fund

In 2019, North Somerset Council successfully bid for £97m in grant funding from Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund.

The grant allows the Council to deliver essential infrastructure projects that serve the Weston Villages and the wider region, whilst also unlocking potential housing sites to meet any need for new homes over the next 15 years.

Three projects are to be completed using the funding by 2024, they are:

  • a 900 school-place expansion of Winterstoke Hundred Academy
  • a new road to bypass the village of Banwell
  • improvements to local roads and pathways in and around Banwell

Over 2021, the Council will be working with contractors to draw up plans and designs for both the expansion of Winterstoke Hundred Academy and the Banwell bypass.

Local people know what their community need, and that’s why we’re keen to work with you to co-design schemes that truly work for the region. There will be lots of opportunities to get involved, so keep an eye on this page for further updates on how to have your say.
